New Planetary Shader

I have been frustrated by the preceding shader I have adapted from the Neil Shaders from GPU Gem 2 : the Earth 3d shaders, that you can see here. I wanted something more flexible, more easy to deploy, faster and globally more fun. I got rid of the physics, as we all know that everything is possible in the universe, and I just focused on getting a WOW result for use in any games including mobile phone.

Atmospheric Rayleigh scattering in 3D with Unity 3D : The blue color of the sky is caused by the scattering of sunlight off the molecules of the atmosphere. This scattering, called Rayleigh scattering, is more effective at short wavelengths (the blue end of the visible spectrum). Therefore the light scattered down to the earth at a large angle with respect to the direction of the sun’s light is predominantly in the blue end of the spectrum.

This demo is made with Unity 3D and use almost only GPU shaders to compute the light scattering.

I’ve purchased Unity 3D that is finally the kind of tool I was waiting for.

Now I can move forward and create some of the projects I have in my head. This huge spaceship is one of them.

Huge 3D Spaceship v1 with C4

This is my first experiment using the Huge Spaceship model. I got a lot of trouble importing the model into C4 3d engine. I had to optimize it to 3 Millions Poly and finally, so I could import it.

I got a lot of trouble to find a nice texture, C4 is very limited or I don’t get it. I’ll try to improve the result later.
